Hi! I'm a contemporary fiber artist based in Indiana, working primarily in macraweaving.
My practice began with an exploration of macrame, weaving, embroidery, and mixed media, but over time I've become increasingly drawn to larger-scale fiber work and the possibilities of combining macrame knots and weaving within a single piece.
I approach each work as an exploration of color, texture, rhythm, and material. Rather than following a rigid plan from beginning to end, I allow the piece to evolve as I work, responding to the relationships between fibers, forms, and woven and knotted areas.
I'm particularly interested in creating work that changes with proximity. From across a room, a piece is experienced as a larger composition; up close, the individual fibers, knots, textures, and evidence of the hand become part of the experience.
My current practice is focused on developing a distinctive body of large-scale contemporary fiber works, each created by hand in my Indiana studio.
